The pharmacological and etno-botanical studies of ANNATTO (ACHIOTE) plant in the traditional medicine have attracted the attention of specialists towards the laboratory.
The steroid presence in the leaves, suggests they are responsible for its antirheumatic and inflammatory reliever properties that popular medicine attributes in the treatment of rheumatism and prostate inflammation. In the same way, due to the presence of flavonoids, it is used as an effective diuretic, acting on the urogenital system and regulating the renal function.
