Annatto - Urucum - Achiote THE RELIEF OF PROSTATIC PAIN Annatto : Chemical substances obtained from the Bixa orellana leaves, make of this plant a medicinal one. It contains flavonoids, alkaloids, antraquinona, esteroids and saponnins that justify its therapeutic use. The pharmacological and etno-botanical studies of ANNATTO (ACHIOTE) plant in the traditional medicine have attracted the attention of specialists towards the laboratory. At present diverse clinical studies are being done but not be published yet, but the result of pharmacological studies have verified its therapeutic, diuretic, antigonorrhoea and antibacterial actions, that reinforce the beneficial action of ANNATTO on the prostate and urogenital vias, having into consideration that prostatitis is an inflammation of infectious origin, which treatment requires of antibacterial and diuretic products. A fitotherapeutic time has not been established for each one of the multiple treatments. But some authors mention that ANNATTO leaves may be used for long term periods since they have not registered themselves antecedent of toxicity. In order to obtain an adequate diuretic function it is recommended one capsule three times a day. Contraindications: None. Presentation: Capsules by 250 mg in bottles of 90, 150 and 250 units.
